LIFE SPAN: @jarrelharris lost one court, but gained a family

The LIFE SPAN series is about the stories we collect when we play the game. What goes down on the basketball court always has the potential to be more than just a game. This entry into the series touches on that potential. Jarrel Harris is the NBA editor at Sports Illustrated and the co-founder of the sports media run Sunday Washed Club. Raised in the Lower East Side, Harris’s home court once resided beneath the picturesque Williamsburg Bridge. That is until disaster struck. Hurricane Sandy destroyed East River Park and the uncertainty of its future deeply impacted the neighborhood. But for Harris that loss pushed him to rebuild at a new court. This is his story.
